Finalised ideas of the make up and costumes & Decided on a name 'LaBelle'

Wednesday 21st October 2009

In today's lesson we both brought our ideas together about the costumes and make up for our artist. We then weighed out the pros and cons of each outfit while bearing in mind that it had to fit in with our genre of music and target audience. We also were very conscious about creating the 'Star Persona' of our artist and so researched what other females from this genre were wearing in their music videos.
We soon came to a final decision of what our artists style would be like in the music video and set ourselves the task of being on the look out of anything that resembles this style so we could go out and buy the items, for instance wigs from hair shops and big high heels, pearls, lace etc...

As we were heavily influenced by both Pink and Natasha bedingfield, we knew we wanted our artist to have a number of costume and/or hair changes as this would allow to appeal to a greater variety of women as then they would be able to visually see the diversity we are attempting to create in order to show the unity among women and how all women endure similar happenings for instance the continual influence from the media.

We also came to the conclusion of what to actually name our artist. We waned something unusual yet subtle and feminine. We somehow stumbled across rose and beauty and then thought how about LaBelle which if French for beauty, its soft and feminine, just what we wanted for our artist who has lyrics which express how an individual should love their inner self and not result to influences that simply are an act.
